Wilco ― Sky Blue Sky
Really nice, simple design. The illustration going along the front creates a nice balance within the square composition.

Currently a visual communication student at AUCB - studying a course most people don't actually know exists.
I am interested in illustration, photography and painting. Outside the art domain, I love to dig into culture and psychology.

this design feels like a breath of fresh air for some reason. the colours are soft, and thus compliment the desaturated image. I like pattern, which for me link to something tribal, as well as the small arrows pointing right.

Beautiful pieces of design. The cut out brand in the the cared, and the desaturated images with the logo all make a very elegant presentation. the binding and choice of size are interesting as well.

New Layout.
Now that I went back to using my old illustrations, I felt like redeveloping my layout. The size and shape changed - it is almost A3 now, and not square. The new layout feels like it gives me more freedom to arrange my columns of text, now that I can fit 4 onto each page within the spread. All of these pages require some touching up in the future though.
Another experimentation - going for a more graphic style. Still not fully satisfied for this to be the interview cover. I feel like it may not quite fit the designer. However, I like the bright colour scheme.
Lovely balance, and the colours are just vivid enough to see the blues and browns.

stunning!

Really beautiful typography made out of what appears to be… marble? This seems to be a very interesting concept, considering that the whole purpose of type since its origin was to hold thought and let it spread. We are used to type being on paper, on plastic, even on metal plates and billboards.
Something of this size per letter feels quite original and monumental.

Developments.
These are variations of the pages that I had since my critique. It is quite difficult to find just the right layout for the text columns and illustrations. In terms of layout, I would say I have quite a lot of potential for variety.
These spreads take me onto a slightly different route of exploring the concept of motion. Although I had originally planned to use lines, it seemed promising to experiment with slow shutter speed photography during the night.
The results were quite interesting, especially then combining image with text, and trying out different shapes and layouts. As a result, the spreads appear quite varied in style, though whether that is stimulating or confusing remains to be seen.
The outcome is very bright and colourful, however I am not quite certain if it defines Philippe Apeloig, who sounds very dedicated and serious in his interview.
